International Day of the Girl Child

Teens Connect International Center (TCIC) is a non-governmental organisation which has been at the forefront of bridging the value gaps in the youth with a special focus on teenagers.

It is the brainchild of the Center for Creative Development Strategises(CCDS).

Teens Connect International Center held a programme today 14th Oct, 2016 themed ''Girls Progress=Goals Progress'' to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child at Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls School(ACMGS) Elelenwo.

Different motivational talks were taken on "Because am a girl, Preserving the Dignity and Honor Code of the Girl Child, Stand out from the Crowd through Excellence in Education".

With  Pastor Mrs. Nancy Iheduru, the Executive Director of CCDS, Mrs. Chinyere Ordu, the Principal of Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls School, Dr. Mrs. Njideka Ebisi, Mummy Faraday Iwuchukwu as keynote speakers.

Also present was CCDS Team, Students from ACMGS, Priesthood Charity Orphanage, Methodist Girls Secondary School.

Bayelsa wins Nafest 2016

The Bayelsa State Arts and Culture team has won the 29th edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (Nafest) held in Uyo.

The festival which started on 2nd oct with theme Exploring the Goldmine Inherent in Nigeria's Creative Industries.

Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom announced Bayelsa which participated in all the events as the overall winner among the 17 states that participated.

The host Akwa Ibom came second, followed by the Federal Capital Terriotory Abuja, Lagos came out forth.

Mr Emmanuel Ibiok the commissioner for Culture and Tourism who represented the governor thanked the winners for their determination and hard work to emerge the overall winner.

Akwa Ibom set to host 29th edition of the National Festival for Arts and Culture

The Akwai Ibom State Government will host  the "29th Edition of National Festival For Arts and Culture scheduled for 2nd-9th 0ct,2016 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo(The State Capital).

The 2016 edition of the event is themed ''Exploring the Goldmine Inherent (investment diversification opportunities) in Nigeria's Creative Industry" calls on participation of the 36 states of the federation, Local Government councils, relevant tertiary institutions, NGOs and the Market Women Association of the Housing State.

The festival set to host 35,000 and 60,000 people.

Over the last 29  years, NAFEST has consistently promoted national unity, craftsmanship, talent hunt, skills acquisition etc.

The activities for NAFEST 2016 includes Traditional Cuisine Exhibition Fair & Competition, Traditional Parade/Charade of Dance; Introducing Arts & Culture from the 36 States of the Federation, FCT & Commonwealth Africa Nations, Arts & Craft Exhibition and Competition.

Also featuring Traditional Wrestling Competition (Junior Category), Poetry Citation & Performance (School Participation/Children), Indigenous NAFEST Fashion exhibition Fair, Moonlight Games/Essay Writing Competition (Folklore & Tales), Drawing & Painting Exhibition/Competition, NAFEST Award Gala; Recognition for Promoters & Investors for the Art & Culture Development in Nigeria, NAFEST Variety Night & Music Concert!!

NAFEST as a national platform is proposed to agitate sectorial focus on wealth creation from the creative industry objective to investment diversification effort to grow the Nations GDP; which is achieved through economic Patronage of International/Rural Art work & Crafts, Artistes, Fashion designers, Transport & logistics, Food Vendors, Hotel & Hospitality Providers and drinks and manufacturing Vendors.

Celebrating the 29th Anniversary in Nigeria, NAFEST remains a substantial platform for internally generated income for empowering SME & MSME Business.

NAFEST is organised by the National Council for Arts & Culture, NCAC and duly endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Information, Culture, Tourism and National Orientation.

The event is supported by the Akwa Ibom State Government, Ministry of Information & Culture, FRCN, VON.

A Single and Married Seminar was held yesterday at Salvation Ministries Town Satellite Church in Agbani Darego Complex with Pastor Ebizimo Diriyai as the guest speaker featuring presentations such as singing, drama, comedy etc.
The event was wrapped up with a questions and answers section.
