Why modern relationships are falling apart so easily today

Why are relationships so hard today? Why do we fail at love every time, despite trying so hard? Why have humans suddenly become so inept at making relationships last? Have we forgotten how to love? Or worse, forgotten what love is?

We’re not prepared. We’re not prepared for the sacrifices, for the compromises, for the unconditional love. We’re not ready to invest all that it takes to make a relationship work. We want everything easy. We’re quitters. All it takes is a single hurdle to make us crumble to our feet. We don’t let our love grow, we let go before time.

It’s not love we’re looking for, only excitement and thrill in life. We want someone to watch movies and party with, not someone who understands us even in our deepest silences. We spend time together, we don’t make memories. We don’t want the boring life. We don’t want a partner for life, just someone who can make us feel alive right now, this very instant. When the excitement fades, we discover nobody ever prepared us for the mundane. We don’t believe in the beauty of predictability because we’re too blinded by the thrill of adventure.

We immerse ourselves in the inconsequentials of the city life, leaving no space for love. We don’t have time to love, we don’t have the patience to deal with relationships. We’re busy people chasing materialistic dreams and there’s no scope to love. Relationships are nothing more than convenience.

We look for instant gratification in everything we do – the things we post online, the careers we choose, and the people we fall in love with. We want the maturity in a relationship that comes with time, the emotional connect that develops over years, that sense of belonging when we barely even know the other person. Apparently, nothing’s worth our time and patience – not even love.

We’d rather spend an hour each with a hundred people than spending a day with one. We believe in having ‘options’. We’re ‘social’ people. We believe more in meeting people than getting to know them. We’re greedy. We want to have everything. We get into relationships at the slightest attraction and step out, the moment we find someone better. We don’t want to bring out the best in that one person. We want them to be perfect. We date a lot of people but rarely give any of them a real chance. We’re disappointed in everyone.

Technology has brought us closer, so close that it’s impossible to breathe. Our physical presence has been replaced by texts, voice messages, snapchats and video calls. We don’t feel the need to spend time together anymore. We have too much of each other already. There’s nothing left to talk about.

We’re a generation of ‘wanderers’ who wouldn’t stay at one place for too long. Everyone is commitment phobic. We believe we’re not meant for relationships. We don’t want to settle down. Even the thought of it is scary. We cannot imagine being with one person for the rest of our lives. We walk away. We despise permanence like its some social evil. We like to believe we’re ‘different’ than the rest. We like to believe we don’t conform to social norms.

We’re a generation that calls itself ‘sexually liberated’. We can tell s** apart from love, or so we think. We’re the hook-up-break-up generation. We have s** first and then decide if we want to love someone. S** comes easy, loyalty doesn’t. Getting laid has become the new getting drunk. You do it not because you love the other person, but because you want to feel good. It’s all the temporary fulfillment we need. S** outside relationships isn’t a taboo anymore. Relationships aren’t that simple anymore. There are open relationships, friends with benefits, causal flings, one-night stands, no strings attached – we’ve left very little exclusivity for love in our lives.

We’re the practical generation who runs by logic alone. We don’t know how to love madly anymore. We wouldn’t take a flight to a far-off land just to see someone we love. We’d break up because, long distance. We’re too sensible for love. Too sensible for our own good.

We’re a scared generation – scared to fall in love, scared to commit, scared to fall, scared to get hurt, scared to get our hearts broken. We don’t allow anyone in, nor do we step out and love anyone unconditionally. We lurk from behind walls we’ve created ourselves, looking for love and running away the moment we really find it. We suddenly ‘cannot handle it’. We don’t want to be vulnerable. We don’t want to bare our soul to anyone. We’re too guarded.

We don’t even value relationships anymore. We let go of the most wonderful people for ‘the other fishes in the sea.’ We don’t consider them sacred anymore.

There’s nothing we couldn’t conquer in this world, and yet, here we are ham-fisted at the game of love – the most basic of human instincts. Evolution, they call it.

How to keep a man on a lock down

Chatting with my girl and all of a sudden the question pooped, how can i keep a man on a lock down?

She has had so many bad relationships  and nothing works and would like to know where she has gone wrong.

As the aproko i be na ,went around asking questions and trust me i got some good response;

Character:  some guys say its not just boobs and ass,a good character can keep him on the lock down. He is concerned about what is on the inside.

Independent woman: I want an independent woman. A lady who can bring something to the table....I don't want liability oh,so he said. But funny enough ,if they get the independent ladies, will they be on lock down?......they will still be the one to say they hardly see you...hiss

Great cook: Some guys will say if she is a great cook...is a  lie.
You will cook all your life, but at the end of the day they will not still be on a lock down. I don't believe sha but if you are saying it and you mean it thump ups for you guys.

Good in bed :Yes, this is what i have being waiting for. Some guys are like they want a woman that can give them fantastic s**, a woman who is ready to explore and not stick to a particular thing.
My ear have full oo.. .............................

Be prayerful- His woman must be prayerful. She should be able to wake up at night for them to pray. Didn't know guys are still into praying women. Nice

Caring: If a woman cares about him and extends to people around him then she has put him on lock down.

Accommodating- A woman that can accommodate him and his friends and cook for them when they go for clubbing. Ladies what do you think? Coming late at night after clubbing then your woman should cook, your own better.

The lady must be rich - Infact Dangote daughter. Are you a thief? i no fit laugh my people.

As for me,am of the opinion that if a man loves he will lock himself down and not the other way round.

Abeg!!!make una ask me na
How can you keep Josephine on a lock down?

My True Lover

Trudging slowly.....filth stacked
luggage slung to my aching back
i long wearily for your presence.
Your true love can give me rest,in exchange for worries.

Drifting closer with a jar of perfume
in shaky,sweaty hands,i tremble
helplessly at your feet.
Your true love deserves my total submission.

At your feet now, with tears flowing
like the euphrates i gently wash
the soles of a lover's feet.
Your true love can mend my torn heart.

Cleansing your feet with my loosened
ebony dark hair,shrills of valiant
recovery ring merrily in my ears.
Your true love is worth every ounce of pride and glory.

Passionately,i  hiss away my pains
on your feet with sore lips, yearning
for your true acceptance.
Your true love is beyond man's natural love.

Daintly uncovering the jar,i empty
its scented perfume jelly on your
feet,mildly caressing it with
wispy fingers.
Your true love is hearty for ashes, your true love is my Zoe.

Jesus!!!Jesus!!!Jesus!!!
My Truest Lover.

NOTAP to complement FG’s move to revatilise economy

The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) is set to complement the Federal Government’s move to revitalise the economy.

NOTAP Director General, Alhaji Danazumi Ibrahim, made the disclosure on Saturday during the organisation’s 2016 management retreat in Minna.

He said that NOTAP would align its activities to the current drive to diversify the sources of revenue generation and acquisition in the country.

“NOTAP’s mandate is to ensure that technological agreement in the country are not obsolete.

“In 2010/2014, the agency saved Nigeria N188.2 billion that would have gone out of the country in capital flight.

“In this regard, it is important to review our activities in line with the mandate, identify the existing gaps and develop clear strategies for implementation.

“This will guide us on how to reposition the office to play more vital role in the national economy.

“To be able to achieve this, it is important for management staff to brainstorm and exchange ideas on the implementation of the programmes of the agency,” he said.

Ibrahim decried the shortage of manpower in the agency, urging the Federal Government to improve the institution’s finances for better mandate performance.

The Director General gave an assurance that the agency would continue to monitor technological transfer to the country.

“We have informed universities, polytechnics and research establishments to bring in intellectual culture.

“Once a student or lecturer comes up with innovation and before it reaches the public domain, come to us to protect it for you to avoid fear of litigation,’’ he said.

Dr David Okongwu, a former Director General of NOTAP, who spoke on “The trend of Technology Transfer in Nigeria,’’ said Nigeria was the first to launch satellite in Africa.

He lamented that Nigeria was backward in technical advancement and called on government at all levels to tackle the current challenges in order to bring out the best in the people. (NAN)

The Bitter Truth

Waking up this morning to see this pics as an encouragement, it motivated me on how I need to pick up myself everyday and work hard.

I hear  young ladies cry about no jobs.Yes! there are no jobs but the question is,
What can you do?
What have you tried to do?
What motivates you?
What do you see?

On the pics, you can see an elderly woman in her beautiful canoe, firewood, fry pan and all the necessary things she needs to make her daily bread. She sells akara and bread and the unique thing about her, is that she paddles to meet her customers.

I guess, when she started she waited for them to come and saw that the outcome was low and she changed her strategy to get better result. You can't use the same approach everyday and expect to get a different result, you have to change your approach.

A woman is expected to work, take care of children and also manage the affairs of the house but these days I hear things like,
''I want a ready made man, ready made man can lead to ready made trouble''

Mama is happy doing what she knows best in order to survive. She didn't give excuses like age barrier and all.
You! what is your excuse?

Hard work pays with time........you know.
Just hold on, constant effort goes along way with the help of God.
''little drops of water makes a mighty ocean''.

Ladies, its high time we stopped deceiving ourselves and tell ourselves the truth, judge yourselves and start somewhere, no matter where.

Y'all know that adding value to yourselves will attract your dream men. Men that will respect and treat you like the angel you are.
Like the saying goes, like minds attracts each other.

All hail the Niger Delta ladies,we dey try....
Inspired by my big sister, Inemo .C. Dokubo and my smally Esther Dima.
They are always there to motivate me.....

Quote of the day

''Honestly, I never really understood the glorification of Fridays and weekends.
I don't want to build a life and career, where i spent five days a week waiting for the weekend.
No!

I want to enjoy my life, and don't wish any weekday away. I want each day to matter to me, in someway, even if it's   a small tiny way.

I love my life. Everyday, that's the spirit we should convey all around us.

Champions League: Mikel scores as Chelsea loses 1-2 to PSG

Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi crowned his 57th appearance in the Uefa Champions League with a brilliant goal last night for Chelsea although they lost 1-2 away in France to Paris Saint Germain (PSG). Mikel, 28, who is hoping to surpass Nwankwo Kanu's record of 60 Champions league appearances, gave his club a great chance of into the quarter finals with his away goal last night at Parc de France.

Since he joined Chelsea in 2006, Mikel has always been part of the squad averaging 37 games per season in all competitions. PSG come to Stamford Bridge for the return leg in a fortnight's time and victory for Chelsea would see Mikel get the chance of equalling Kanu's record and potentially beating it this season.

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has described Mikel as the midfielder that brings balance to the team which makes him a dependable team player. Last night, on the stroke of halftime, Mikel slammed home a goal from close range after Diego Costa had flicked Willian's corner into his path.

It was just his sixth goal in 348 games for the club and cancelled out PSG's 39th opener, which Mikel was partially responsible for after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s free-kick struck him en route to beating Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

However, Chelsea ended up losing the match as Uruguayan Edinson Cavani came off the bench to score a winner for the French side ion the 78th minute. Chelsea’s stoic defending had them on course for a draw, before Cavani steered home Angel di Maria’s pass, which now makes the second leg a winner-takes-all affair. This is the third successive season Chelsea and PSG have been drawn against each other and both previous ties were decided on away goals.

Chelsea progressed in 2014 despite losing the first leg 3-1 in Parc des Princes but were beaten last season.Yesterday's loss was Chelsea’s first defeat since Hiddink took charge after Jose Mourinho’s sacking in November, leading his team to a 12-match unbeaten run. PSG for their part are unbeaten in 44 league games and lead second-placed Monaco by 24 points in the French league.

Mikel has admitted that Chelsea were disappointed to lose against PSG but achieved their aim of scoring an away goal against the Ligue One champions. He expressed optimism that they would turn the tie around during the second leg in London.

“We know they’re a very good team and our aim was to come out here and get a goal and we’ve done that tonight. We still have the second leg to play back home, so we have to take that back home and capitalize on that and make sure we build on that,” Mikel said.

Boko Haram is struggling to remain relevant—Lai Mohammed

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has described the wave of suicide bombings and attacks on soft targets by Boko Haram, lately as actions of hungry and desperate terrorists.

Lai Mohammed while speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, yesterday, said Boko Haram sect members were not only venting the anger of their hunger and desperation on soft targets but also trying to demonstrate that they were still relevant.

He also revealed a document that came in from the United Nations indicated which said that the body has released a sum of $58 million to assist 2.4 million people affected by Boko Haram-related violence from March 2015 to February 4, 2016.

In other development, Borno State government, yesterday, have defied the protest of donor agencies’ and have started the relocation of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, from public schools to resettlement camps to allow for the resumption of students, after the schools were closed due to Boko Haram insurgency in March, 2014.

Their protest was expressed through a representative from the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, known as Mr. Victor, who said to the committee that the donor agencies “are dissatisfied with the arrangements.”

Fashola advocates emergency action on deplorable roads

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, says Nigeria needs emergency action to guarantee a rapid turnaround of the deplorable road network in the country.

Fashola stated this while speaking with newsmen during the assessment of the deplorable condition of the 96-kilometre Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa road on Tuesday evening.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the minister’s convoy had to use a bush path to traverse the persistent traffic gridlock which often left many articulated vehicles and heavy trucks stranded for days.

NAN also reports that the journey from Jebba to Ilorin, which is less than 100 kilometres, lasted four hours while many of the vehicles suffered malfunction due to the logjam.

Fashola said that urgent action must be taken to rehabilitate the road which he described as one of Nigeria’s “critical, strategic economic roads .’’

“What the nation needs now is an emergency action, not declaration of emergency.

“We have declared too many emergencies. This is the time to take emergent and sensible action.

“The National Assembly should fast track the passage of the budget so that we can address the ugly situation of our roads.

“This is intolerable for the ordinary people because their businesses and sources of livelihood depend on this; so, this can’t continue, ‘’ he said.

Fashola also called for an amendment of the procurement law to increase the percentage of mobilization for road contracts to enable contractors deliver completed projects without delay.

He argued for regular assessment of contracts to check wastage and abuse.

“First, we must change that part of the procurement law that limits mobilization for road contracts to only 15 per cent. It doesn’t make sense.

“Contractors can’t fully mobilize because they need materials on site and anything less than 40 per cent is really a joke for a contractor to start with a vigorous impact.

“While we are focusing on budgets and all of that, it is important to see what have been left undone when we were making money at a hundred dollars per barrel of oil,’’ he added.

Fashola also pledged that the ministry would judiciously deploy human and material resources to creatively restore quality roads in all sections of the country.

NAN reports that the firm handling the rehabilitation of the road had told the minister that it was given 15 per cent of the contract sum of N12 billion as mobilization.

The company also stated that it was still being owed for the two completed sections of the road.
