Nigeria, USAID to partner with public, private sectors in agricultural economic development

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbe, has called on all interested parties in agriculture in both the public and private sectors to pool their efforts towards a more improved livelihood.

Ogbe who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Shehu Ahmed, made this call while declaring open a two day retreat for directors of the ministry in collaboration with USAID in Abuja.

Representing the USAID, Knowledge Management Manager, African Lead, Dela Akanko, said the retreat is a way of impacting knowledge in agriculture for better sector management.

They agreed that the retreat will allow actors to learn from each other’s experience, building on expertise and knowledge, revealing mistakes, learning and improving on them.

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, and the Nigerian government have taken another step in the increase of statistical awareness and data dissemination in the country by adopting an enhanced general data dissemination system.

The Statistician General of the Federation, Yemi Kale at the event in Abuja said the feat will help reduce complaints over data accessibility locally and internationally.
