The wife of Delta State Governor encourages parents to embrace the nationwide immunization programme

The wife of Delta state Governor, Dame Edith Okowa has urged parents particularly mothers to embrace the nationwide immunization of children in order to protect them from ailments likely to emanate from communicable and non-communicable diseases with tendencies of deforming their wards at tender ages.

She said this during a visit to her office by the Delta State Primary Health Development Agency at the Government house, Asaba. Dame Edith Okowa during their interaction emphasized the importance of immunization to children.

She was speaking against the backdrop of the effort by the Nigerian Government to ensure total eradication of polio in the country and pledged her support for the programme. Dame Okowa commended effort by various stakeholders in ensuring the success of this scheme through laudable incentives initiated to motivate mothers.

Leader of the delegation, Permanent Secretary of the agency, Dr. Minnie Oseji commended the first lady and founder of the “05 initiative”, stating that the foundation’s programmes and projects are geared towards improving living standards of Deltans in line with the 5 points agenda of Governor Okowa’s led administration.

Earlier the staff and management of the Nigerian Television Authority Asaba led by the General Manager came to show solidarity to the first lady’s programmes in areas of re-orientation, youth empowerment and healthcare since her assumption into office.
